The Long Wait is Over

Bass fishing from a Jon boat

Finally, after what felt like a life time of watching, waiting, freezing, cleaning gear, watching the ice go out, and going half mad. The Winter weather in New England has broke and Spring is in full swing. Which means one thing, fishing season is upon us and more specifically, pre-spawn. An important phase in a Largemouth Bass’s annual life cycle and the time when they are most likely to be at their heaviest. It’s the time of the year when you are fired up and ready to be on the water chasing a new PB. Grinding sun up to sun down throwing big swimbaits or swinging a massive streamer in search of that one bite.

On our first session of the year we did just that. Hit the lake in search of big bass. It was a perfect day for mid March. The temperature was in the mid 50’s, it was partly cloudy with a layer of fog just thin enough for the sun to penetrate and burn off before 9 o’clock, and the moon phase was ideal. I had a 4.75” Miyagi Swimmer by Beast Coast tied on and they lit it up as soon a it hit the water. From the first hook set, I knew it was going to be an epic day. I fished that bait all day and they were dialed right on to it. We started off on the west side of the lake, taking full advantage of the warmth of the sun and hit all of the transition areas we could find. Fish after fish, we made our way clockwise around the lake until we made it back to the launch close to 30 fish and 6 hours later. We didn’t smash any PB’s on this trip but that’s what keeps you coming back right? Despite not catching any giants, we did manage to land two fish that were pushing 4lbs and a handful of solid fish around 3.

As far as first trips of the season go, this one deffineitly set the tone and gives me high hopes for some epic fishing to come as well as a healthy population of Bass in the lake. Get in on the action and check out how the trip went for yourself in The Long Wait is Over, our first flick of the season. These fishing films, vlogs, videos, or whatever you want to call them are a work in progress and a process that I truly enjoy. Looking back at some of the videos I’ve made over the last five years, it gets me hyped to see how far we’ve come and how the quality continues to improve as we go. The support I’ve had here on NSB is amazing and I can’t thank you guys enough. If you are new to the site please do me a favor and like, subscribe, and comment on the video it really helps us out. If you enjoy The Long Wait is Over, or just want to see the progress we’ve made then check out some of our older videos and let me know in the comments. Thank you all again for the support. Get out there, catch some fish, and have a good time. That’s what it’s all about, and what NSB stands for, keeping the good times rollin and the stoke high. Cheers.
