As someone who compulsively absorbs any information I can find about bass fishing, it’s only natural I have acquired a decent amount of knowledge about the industry behind the sport. The deeper I get into this industry, the larger it seems to become and the more fascinated I become with it. I’ve probably fished thousands of different products from hundreds of different companies, and the incredible part is that I’m not a pro angler or even one with a disposable income to spend on gear. Lures of all different shapes and styles, hooks for every imaginable application, line made with space-age materials, rods that are so light you can only feel their weight in the guilt from their price, and the reels—oh my, how I love the reels.
Read MoreThe last Two weeks, my time on the water has been limited. At first I was too busy to really notice, but after a week of no fishing, I was starting to get a little antsy. By Wednesday of week Two, I was getting texts from my good friend and fishing buddy Evan (@bassfactory101), saying the lake was on fire. He was out there catching multiple limits, 20-30 fish a day and I was stuck watching him slay from Instagram. By Friday, I couldn’t take it anymore. I cut my work week short and met him at the lake around noon.

Read MoreIt's been hot as hell in San Diego. With a record breaking heat wave, its hard to remember what a cool night feels like. Over the past few days, it has been especially getting to me, so I had to pack up the car and head to Mt. Laguna. The timing couldn't have been better as the perseids meteor shower was peaking, the moon was just a sliver, and the sky was clear. As we got to 3000ft, the sun was waking its way behind the mountains. I'm not sure if it's because of the nearby fires or it was just a special night but the sky was on fire! The sun was a molten ball, melting into the horizon. As it set, it slower became a sliver in the skyline.

Read MoreI have found as Ive gotten older that life tends to get in the way of the things that matter most. Monetary and financial burdens of the adult world suffocate the time and will to pursue the things that I am most passionate about. Through out my life fishing has always been one of those passions. The opportunity to be outdoors, crafting a skill in search of that one big catch or just a lazy day on the pond dropping a line with friends is second to none.
Read MoreLast Saturday, we hit the water in search of a glide bait bite. I met up with Evan around 3pm for an evening session and we fished until the lake closed. After about 5 hours we had caught a few good bass.
Read MoreLast weekend, we hit lake Otay Lake in Southern California for some memorial day weekend bass fishing. Evan and I got on the water around 6am. I fished with him until 3pm and he stayed on the water for the full day. We started the morning with a quick limit on jerk baits and drop shots and spent the afternoon tossing swimbaits and jigs, looking for a bigger bite. The swimbait bite paid off for Evan in the afternoon when he landed a 5lber. We will be back this weekend, searching for that giant. In the mean time, check out this video from the morning last weekend and a few photos from our time on the water.
