Read MoreIt’s that time of year again, March is in full swing and whether your home lake is open water or still cloacked in a wintery sheet of ice the urge to get your hands on that first Bass of the season is constantly in your head. For those of us further south, it’s not so bad, but I remember all to well the feeling of looking at a body of water covered in ice too thin for ice fishing, just waiting for a good wind storm and warm snap to blow thru and open up the lake.

Rhode Island is home to one of the countries best Striper fisheries and you better believe we will be taking full advantage of in. In the mean time, check out this throw back from the worm hatch on Salt Pond in 2013 featuring captain Zach Lapp of Ripline Charters and myself. Enjoy and stay tuned for more Striper action this Summer.
Read MoreLast weekend, I hit the lake with the homie Evan (@bassfactory101) to start filming New School Bass Season II. The morning started off cold and wet, but we were stoked to be on the water. At first there was a light breeze and a heavy mist. You know, the type of rain that every time you think it’s done and take off your jacket, it starts raining again. The breeze was a little cool but nice in the way that when the breaks in rain came, everything would dry off quick. As we made our way down the shoreline, we picked apart the weeds, grass, and rocks that we came across. From there on out, we threw everything we had at them.

I will be fishing in Southern California until April, then I will be driving across the country to Rhode Island for the Summer. Traveling across the country presents many opportunities to fish, film and meet new people. I want to make NSB Season 2 as epic as possible, so this is where I need your help. We want your input on where we should fish in 2019! Feel free to sound off in the comments section below or shoot us an email at newschoolbass@gmail.com. Cheers!

Read MoreRecently, I was digging through some old hard drives and found this video we made 6 years ago. The video highlights some beautiful moments fly fishing with friends on my home lake in Rhode Island. While this video is older, in 2019 we will be filming more of the NSB series on the east coast. While the bass may not be as big as what California has to offer, the fishing is great and I hope you guys will enjoy the content. For now, enjoy this piece of NSB history from years past.
Read MoreAs someone who compulsively absorbs any information I can find about bass fishing, it’s only natural I have acquired a decent amount of knowledge about the industry behind the sport. The deeper I get into this industry, the larger it seems to become and the more fascinated I become with it. I’ve probably fished thousands of different products from hundreds of different companies, and the incredible part is that I’m not a pro angler or even one with a disposable income to spend on gear. Lures of all different shapes and styles, hooks for every imaginable application, line made with space-age materials, rods that are so light you can only feel their weight in the guilt from their price, and the reels—oh my, how I love the reels.

Read MoreThe last Two weeks, my time on the water has been limited. At first I was too busy to really notice, but after a week of no fishing, I was starting to get a little antsy. By Wednesday of week Two, I was getting texts from my good friend and fishing buddy Evan (@bassfactory101), saying the lake was on fire. He was out there catching multiple limits, 20-30 fish a day and I was stuck watching him slay from Instagram. By Friday, I couldn’t take it anymore. I cut my work week short and met him at the lake around noon.
Read MoreHistorically for me, fishing in the late Summer/Early Fall has been a difficult time of the year to catch Bass. The long days of Summer are mostly over, but the chill of Fall isn't in full effect. It can be tough to find fish and even harder to catch them. Despite the difficult fishing, I have always enjoyed this time of year. I love a good challenge and catching transitional Bass is one of them. Over the years, through many failed attempts I have learned a few techniques that seem to do the trick, or at least help catch a limit during this tough time of year. Weather patterns and lake conditions vary and I must say, most of these techniques pertain to my experience fishing for Northern Strain Bass in the north east.
